September represents a month of renewal, rebirth and revival because of the warm weather, vibrancy and sprouting flowers. It is also Heritage Month, where we get to celebrate cultural traditions, diversity, languages, values, beliefs and national unity. This day is about embracing our uniqueness, while celebrating unity. Celebrated by young and old, Heritage Day is an opportunity to teach children about their traditions and preserve these for future generations!
Early Learning Programmes (ELPs) provide nurturing enviroments for children to support a breath of skills, including critical thinking, problem solving, emergent literacy and numeracy, social and communication skills, perceptual skills, physical skillsas well as executive functioning through play-based learning. ELPs are are also a melting pot of cultures, languages, values, represented by children who come from different homes, ethnic groups, races, gender, and geographical locations.. As such, ELPs become a place where children learn from, with and about each other, in the present of an adult, be it a practitioner or caregiver, and where identity and belonging is strenthened, and knowledge with the understanding of the world is, is developed!
Happy Heritage Month!
