About the Info Hub
Welcome to the Early Childhood Development Information Hub (ECD Info Hub), a collaboration between the Department of Basic Education, UNICEF and the LEGO Foundation to share the most up-to-date, relevant, and valuable information and resources on early childhood development. The ECD Info Hub aims to provide single point of information for those working in the early childhood development sector, including policy, programmes, research, news on new developments, discussions and opinions, and other related matters.
The objectives of the ECD Info Hub are:
- To curate and maintain a comprehensive repository of ECD-related information, resources, and expertise, ensuring that it is easily accessible to all users.
- To foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among diverse stakeholders in the ECD sector, breaking down silos and promoting a sense of community and shared purpose.
- To create visibility for all ECD-related information sources and initiatives in the country, ensuring that the ECD sector’s efforts are well-recognized and appreciated.
- To attract a diverse community with heterogeneous knowledge of ECD, encouraging inclusivity, innovation and ensuring that the Info Hub benefits from a wide range of perspectives and expertise.

About the Department of Basic Education
The Department of Basic Education is responsible for early learning and develop of children from birth to five years and schools from Grade R to Grade 12. About the Lego Foundation
Children are inherently curious. They explore the world through play and develop the skills to navigate it. They learn to solve problems, come up with ideas, test concepts and interact with others. Play is how children learn best – at home, in the classroom and in communities.
