Empowering Young Minds: Motheo Training Institute Trust Shines at Gauteng Legislature’s ECD Stakeholder Roundtable

Introduction

On the 6th of December 2025, the Gauteng Legislature’s Education Portfolio Committee hosted a Stakeholder Roundtable Discussion on Early Childhood Development (ECD), a crucial step towards ensuring quality education for South Africa’s youngest learners. Ms. Palesa Tyatyi, Chief Operating Officer of Motheo Training Institute Trust, represented the organisation at this pivotal event, underscoring Motheo Training Institute Trust commitment to advancing ECD in the province.

The Roundtable Discussion:

The discussion centered around critical thematic areas, including support for community centers, professional development of ECD practitioners, norms and standards for ECD sites, curriculum implementation, funding, and monitoring compliance. Mrs. Phumelele Tloubatla, Director of ECD at the Gauteng Department of Education, delivered a comprehensive presentation, shedding light on the department’s efforts to enhance ECD services.
